In a world of big box stores and mass retail, Charleston’s unique mix of locally owned businesses of all kinds is one of its many famous attributes — in our opinion, it’s among the best things about living in the Lowcountry. We’re very proud to be part of this mix, and for ten years have worked hard to serve the community and give back every chance we get.
But Charleston’s local businesses face incredible challenges as our region continues to grow. And without the resources of a “corporate office” or the financial backing of a national corporation, most of us can use all the help we can get when it comes to surviving in a challenging environment.
Lowcountry Local First is the only organization in the area dedicated to serving local, independent businesses like us. That’s why we’ll be giving to LLF on May 5th, the second annual Lowcountry Giving Day.
Lowcountry Giving Day is an online fundraising event powered by matching funds from major donors. In other words, every donation on www.lowcountrygivingday.org on May 5 will go further because of the generosity of other philanthropists. Last year, Lowcountry Giving Day raised more than $4 million for area nonprofits.
Like everyone else, we have a list of nonprofits we’ll support that today. But the top of that list will be Lowcountry Local First because of the way they advocate for local businesses like ours. Please join us and make LLF part of your Giving Day plan as well. Click here to pledge your support!
