From now until the end of the year, when you come to our Friday Wine Tastings you’ll be giving back to Lowcountry Local First, our charity partner for the fourth quarter. If you’re a fan of Ted’s, we think you’ll agree that Charleston’s unique mix of locally owned businesses is one of the great things about living in the Lowcountry. LLF is the only organization in the area dedicated to advocating for local, independent businesses and farmers in an effort to strengthen our local economy.
Now, more than ever, local businesses need your support. Charleston’s growth and popularity – while not necessarily a bad thing – can have an adverse affect on small, local businesses, who face increasing commercial rents and fierce competition from national, non-local chains in town, and mega-retailers like Amazon online.
Among the many programs and initiatives that LLF administers is the annual Buy Local Month, which takes place during the holiday season from November 15 through December 15. It’s an important reminder to all of us to support local businesses during the holiday season and beyond. When you shop local you’re increasing the dollars flowing within our community and helping to sustain the essential services that meet the needs of our growing community. You’re also helping to ensure that the unique Charleston businesses we all love can continue to thrive.
Look for the LLF Member Badge as you shop, or visit the LLF Local Business Directory to locate Charleston’s truly local businesses. And be sure to join us for our Friday Wine Tastings through the end of the year. Your $5 tasting donation will be donated to LLF.
