If you’re a fan of Ted’s, it’s likely you’ll agree that Charleston’s unique mix of locally owned businesses is one of the great things about living in the Lowcountry. But now, more than ever, local businesses need your support. Hurricane Matthew shut the city and its business down for 3-5 days, enough time to have a severe impact on small businesses who depend on customers coming in every day in order to make ends meet. Meanwhile, Charleston’s growth and popularity – while not necessarily a bad thing – can have an adverse affect on small, local businesses, who face increasing commercial rents and competition from national, non-local chains.
From now until the end of the year, when you come to our Friday Wine Tastings you’ll be giving back to Lowcountry Local First, our charity partner for the fourth quarter. LLF is the only organization in the area dedicated to advocating for local, independent businesses and farmers in an effort to strengthen our local economy. Through programs that support local economic development, provide awareness and education for the general public, and advocate for the importance of a strong and diverse local economy, Lowcountry Local First is working hard to support and sustain the local businesses we all love.
Local businesses need all the help they can get – come support LLF and learn more at our Friday Wine Tastings this fall!
