We’re proud of our careful selection of boutique wines, and wanted to introduce our wine buyer and specialist, Jay Griffin. Whether you’re picking up a bottle of wine to go with your steaks or a mixed case to please a crowd for a special celebration, Jay has you covered with a diverse selection from boutique vineyards from around the world.
Jay’s been working in Charleston restaurants for 13 years, at places like Cintra, Pane e Vino, High Cotton, Chez Nouz and The Ordinary. He has traveled in South Africa, where he worked the harvest at a small winery in the Eastern Cape, and France, where he trained at the CFPPA wine school in Burgundy and at Maison Alex Gambal. He has passed the Intro and Certified Sommelier Courses.
Jay continues to work in restaurants around town while stocking the shelves at Ted’s. He’s finds wine to be “a fascinating journey through history with lessons on geography, science and culture,” and is always looking to share his knowledge and talk about unusual and natural wines with our customers.
